De-story the Joint

Edited by Chantal Bourgault du Coudray and Karla Elliott

‘Perhaps the best way to destroy the joint, then, is actually to de-story it, by changing the tired, old, tale, one woman at a time.’ (Tara Moss)

Submissions of 5000-7000 words that ‘De-Story the Joint’ are invited for Outskirts: Feminisms Along the Edge. ‘De-Story the Joint’ served as the organising theme for the 2016 Australian Women’s and Gender Studies Association Conference. Researchers who presented at the conference are warmly invited to submit their work, as well as other scholars committed to the feminist reworking of normative scripts.  Possible targets for feminist ‘de-storying’ might include but are not limited to:

  • institutional cultures
  •  cultures of leadership
  • screen culture
  • media culture
  • literature
  • mothering / parenting
  • disability
  • human rights
  • sexuality
  • race
  • economics
  • activism
  • feminism
