Outskirts is published through the School of Humanities at the University of Western Australia. It is supported by editorial consultants and independent academic referees.
Outskirts began as a printed magazine in 1996 before going online in 1998 as an Open Access Journal according to the definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative.
Outskirts is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal.
